Hatch (Break Free From that Shell)

Show me a thoroughly satisfied man and I will show you a failure… Thomas Edison

There are shells that enclose each and every one of us. These shells might act as comfort zones at a certain point in time. They might even act as shields from the harsh world around us. But it comes a time when they become barriers to keep us from the people that we are destined to be. These shells are in actual fact restrictions and boundaries that limit the way and extent of our movements in life. They limit our growth both spiritual and mental, as well as our success. Sometimes and most of the time they limit our ways of thinking. I have seen so many who cannot think anything beyond what they are right now. They cannot think anything beyond their boundaries.
"Think nothing beyond your reach to avoid disappointments." one man once told me but what then is my reach if I believe that only the sky is the limit?

A hen lays an egg and for three weeks during the incubation period a chick grows inside the shell of that egg. But it is not God's plan for the chick to stay in that shell forever. It comes a time when the chick becomes dissatisfied and realise that it does not belong in a shell. Its time to BREAK FREE!

Poverty, financial constraints, family background, lack of formal education, hurts, physical disabilities amongst other things can act as shells to keep us from the people we are destined to be. There is a need for us to break free from them.

One of the biggest hindrances to any form of progression in life is satisfaction. Satisfaction is our biggest enemy and we all suffer from it. Satisfaction leaves no room for any imagination. People who are satisfied in life do not dream and people who don’t dream do not develop. They are tattering along the road to nowhere.

People can be classified into two different categories, the chickens and the eagles. Chicken are satisfied with a pen of limitations, scratching and scouring in the dirt and happy and content with whatever worms they find in the dirt. There are so many who are exactly like this. They are satisfied with lives of little achievements, little success, hanging on to little things, struggling along in life whilst others are dreaming and making it big.

Eagles on the other hand are those that refuse to be pulled down by their circumstances and fight hard to make the best of what they have. They are always soaring in the sky, doing great things and never content with their present and past achievements. This is because they always know they can do more.

“Don’t be a chicken scratching and scouring in the dirt whilst eagles are flying up high in the sky!”

Stop being satisfied with your life and your past achievements for you can do more. Chicks that get too satisfied with the shells fail to realise that there is a life beyond the shell. They fail to realise that it’s time to break free from the shells and unfortunately they die in the shells before they hatch. There are so many who have already condemned themselves to lives of little achievements. They never try to think beyond their barriers.

They are so many who are always content with the way they have always been doing things. “But this is how we have always been doing it! “They always say whenever introduced to a new method of doing things. They are too comfortable with the way they have always been doing things and to them any form of change is disruptive and they will try by all means to avoid it. They are stuck in ruts and these ruts are their shells.

Are you stuck in a rut? When was the last time you ever tried anything new - a new method or even a new recipe? When was the last time you ever been to a new place? Its time to seek new ways of doing things and break your routines. Seek fresh inputs to life, read books, take classes - go back to school if you have to, watch a movie and always be up to date with what’s happening around you. It’s time to do something new for a change.

There is a life beyond what you are right now - it’s real
There is a life beyond your circumstances - you can get there
And there is nothing that can stop you from achieving it…
